Long Island schools receiving $121.4 million of new aid
(Long Island, NY) Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci (R,C,WF,I-Huntington Station) today highlighted the full restoration of high-tax school aid and the nearly $1 billion in new school aid included in this year’s budget. School districts in Suffolk County will see $75.8 million in new aid under today’s agreement.
“This year’s state budget demonstrates a very serious commitment to our children’s future,” said Lupinacci. “After the initial proposal by the governor, my office heard an overwhelming response in support of school aid restoration. With the support of residents across Long Island we’ve been able to restore this proposed cut and add on more.”
Under the final budget, school districts across the state will receive a total of $20.8 billion in aid to cover a range of services including operating expenses, building and transportation costs.
“We took a major step forward this year to ensure a long-term quality education for our children. As we move forward, I will continue to support a full restoration of the GEA funding and advocate for continued strengthening of our education system,” concluded Lupinacci.
