(Long Island, NY) The Arson Bomb Squad reports the arrest of a Lakeview man for Arson on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at 2:00 PM in Lakeview.
According to detectives, on Friday, March 25, 2016 at 9:30 AM a female victim, 22, looked out her Melvin Avenue residence and observed the defendant Donald Ferrus, 26, throw an accelerant onto her 2014 Honda and set it on fire.

The defendant, who had an ongoing dispute with the victim, fled north on Janus Lane. The Lakeview Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire which caused extensive damage to the vehicle.
On Sunday, March 27, 2016, Bureau of Special Operations officers located Ferrus on Langdon Boulevard in the vicinity of Pershing Street and placed him under arrest without incident.
Ferrus is charged with Arson 3rd degree and he will be arraigned on Monday, March 28, 2016 at First District Court in Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
