(Long Island, NY) Fourth Squad detectives report the arrest of a Central Islip man for two burglaries that occurred in Elmont on Sunday, 05/24/15.
According to detectives, at 7:15 A.M., Fifth Precinct police officers responded to a residence on Hoffman Ave., for a suspicious male knocking and yelling at the front door. Upon police arrival, Ludgy Rely, 24, was found at the rear of the home pulling out shards of glass from a broken window and trying to get inside. The homeowner was not at home during the burglary.

Two plastic bags were recovered from the interior side of the window, containing a gold Ciborium cup and bowl. Subsequent investigation revealed that at approximately 6 A.M., the defendant had broken a window at St. Boniface Parish located at 631 Elmont Rd., entered the church and removed the above listed items.
The defendant was treated at the scene for minor lacerations to his hands and face due to the broken window.
Rely is being charged with Burglary 2nd Degree (Attempt), Burglary 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree. He will be arraigned on Monday, 05/25/15 in First District Court, Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
