Islanders Defenseman Nick Leddy to Make Appearance
(Long Island, NY) Islanders defenseman Nick Leddy will make an appearance at the CityParks Street Hockey Presented by the New York Islanders clinic on Tuesday, November 17 from 3:30-5 p.m. at the Sunset Park Recreation Center in Brooklyn. Leddy will help to teach children basic hockey fundamentals. In addition, each child in attendance will receive a voucher for two tickets to an upcoming Islanders game at Barclays Center.
The clinic, which is the final event in a six-week program that began in October, offers free street hockey instruction to children ages 8-12 with little or no experience with the sport. Offered through the nonprofit City Parks Foundation, the initiative took place at three Brooklyn parks, Sunset Park, St. John’s Park in Crown Heights, and John J. Carty Park in Bay Ridge, using portable equipment set up on an outdoor basketball court.
The program teaches lessons on basic hockey skills such as stickhandling, passing and shooting, while also incorporating core life skills such as safety, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
The Islanders community platform is proudly presented by Baked In Brooklyn.
