(Long Island, NY) On Thursday, October 8, a coalition of national, statewide and local organizations will celebrate the introduction of Act 8396, legislation that will reduce classroom disruptions, make schools safer for everyone and teach students to take responsibility for their behavior. Sponsored by Assembly Education Committee Chair Catherine Nolan, the legislation is supported by Advocates for Children, Legal Aid Society, Urban Youth Collaborative, Make the Road New York, The New York State Permanent Judicial Commission on Justice for Children, The New York Civil Liberties Union, Advancement Project, Alliance for Quality Education and Citizen Action New York.
