(NEW YORK, N.Y.) College Democrats of New York President Colin Crowley issued this statement after he and other CDNY representatives attended President Obama’s speeches in Syracuse and Binghamton this week:
“We’re glad to see that President Obama is making higher education a top priority in his second term. Improving access to education and ensuring equality of opportunity is key in building a strong economy for our generation and for generations to come. In recent years we’ve seen New York State innovate with the SUNY 2020 program, but funding public universities nationwide is a challenge that continues to require new solutions so that all students can have a fair shot at an education.”
Crowley, a member of Syracuse University’s Class of 2014, was in the crowd at yesterday’s speech at Henninger High School. College Democrats of New York Communications Director Rachel Clark (Stony Brook University ’14) also attended the Syracuse event, while Development Director Jamie Zieno (University at Albany ’16) and former New Media Director Nicholas Butler (University at Albany ’15) attended today’s town hall meeting at Binghamton University. All had the opportunity to briefly meet with President Obama.
College Democrats of New York was established as an official outreach arm of the New York State Democratic Party.
