(Long Island, NY) Seventh Squad detectives report the arrest of a Copiague man for grand larcenies that occurred in Massapequa in the months of May and June of 2015.
According to detectives, on Wednesday, 06/03/15, Michael Marte, 28, while in Sears located at 600 Sunrise Highway, entered the jewelry department and requested to see a gold necklace. When the salesperson handed the defendant the merchandise, he fled with the necklace, valued at $1,124.99, exiting the store.

In the month of May, the defendant entered TJ Maxx located at 5500 Sunrise Highway, and on three separate occasions, stole Michael Koors pocketbooks for a total value of $1,422.89.
Seventh Squad detectives arrested Marte on Thursday, 07/16/15 at his residence. He is being charged with two counts of Grand Larceny 4th Degree and will be arraigned on Friday, 07/17/15 in First District Court, Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
