(Long Island, NY) The Nassau County Police Department has reported the arrest of a man on Monday, February 24, 2014 at 11:50 a.m. for a Grand Larceny that occurred in Valley Stream.
According to Fourth Squad detectives, the defendant Rodney Sabin, 22 of Valley Stream was employed at Wal-Mart located at 77 Green Acres Road and assigned to the returns department. A manager for the store became aware of an unusual amount of returns being transacted by the defendant.

An investigation was conducted by the Nassau County Police Department Crimes Against Property Squad along with Fourth Squad detectives, which revealed that beginning in October 2013 to February 2014 Sabine would process a return, giving the customer credit for the item. He would then also place the credit on a gift card, which he would use for his personal benefit. The store suffered a loss in excess of $23,000.00 dollars as a result of Sabine’s actions. He was placed under arrest on Monday, February 24, 2014 at 11:50 a.m. at the store.
Sabine is charged with Grand Larceny 3rd degree and will be arraigned on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at First district Court in Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
