(Long Island, NY) The Nassau County Police report the arrest of a Hempstead woman for Driving While Intoxicated that occurred on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at 5:00 a.m. in Hempstead.
According to police, Wendy L. Bazan-Bravo, 34, was observed by a Nassau County Highway Patrol officer travelling eastbound in a 2016 Hyundai Elantra on Jackson Avenue without any headlights.

The officer conducted a vehicle and traffic stop at which time it was determined Bazan-Bravo was intoxicated and placed under arrest. At the time of the arrest there was a 13 year old female passenger in the vehicle. The child was released to a family friend at the scene.
Bazan-Bravo is charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with child under 15 (Leandra Law), Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Driving While Intoxicated, Driving Alcohol Impaired, Unlicensed Operator, Operating Motor vehicle while on a Phone, Insufficient Lights. She will be arraigned on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at First District Court in Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
