(Huntington NY) – Councilwoman Susan A. Berland joined proud parents and teachers Tuesday evening in congratulating the winners of Project Excel’s Youth Writes Competition. Councilwoman Berland presented each of the thirty-six winners with an official Certificate of Appreciation from the Town of Huntington for their entries in the short story, essay and poetry categories.
“I am an avid and long-time supporter of the Project Excel’s Youth Writes Competition,” commented Councilwoman Berland. “Writing is such a powerful form of expression and communication and it is important to continually reinforce its virtue. I am pleased that Huntington has so many talented writers and I encourage all students to continue to write and to submit their entries for next year’s competition. I would like to thank Valerie Drakos, Director of Project Excel, and her staff for continually making the Youth Writes Competition such a rewarding and memorable event.”
