Class also includes officers from nine other agencies
(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone and Suffolk County Police Commissioner Edward Webber will preside over the Suffolk County Police Academy graduation ceremony on June 15 at Stony Brook University.
The recruits, who have completed 26 weeks of academy training, have received more than 1150 hours of instruction on topics including law, emergency medical training, defensive tactics, domestic violence, mental illness, firearms, crash management and emergency driving. Twenty-nine of the Suffolk County officers have prior law enforcement experience and 11 have military backgrounds.
Along with the 65 Suffolk County Police Department officers, the graduation ceremony will include 24 new officers who will work for the following departments: Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, Riverhead Town Police Department, SUNY Stony Brook Police Department, Southold Town Police Department, Southampton Town Police Department, New York State Attorney General’s Office, Northport Village Police Department, East Hampton Village Police Department and East Hampton Town Police Department.
