(Long Island, NY) Fourth Squad detectives report the arrest of a male and female from Brooklyn for an incident that occurred on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 1:44 pm in Oceanside.
According to detectives, while at IHOP, 2971 Long Beach Road, Anthony Ross, 30, and Nellie Gonzalez, 32, made numerous attempts using different credit cards, many of which were denied, to purchase six $100.00 IHOP gift cards. After drawing the attention of the restaurants manager, who became suspicious of their actions, he observed them leaving the store and entering a vehicle with a Virginia license plate that he was able to obtain and then called 911.

After a notification was broadcast, officers located the couple in a parking lot in Island Park. A subsequent investigation revealed that they used fraudulent re-encoded credit and or debit cards to complete the purchases at the restaurant. They were both placed under arrest without incident. Also discovered in their car were 80 additional blank credit/debit cards from various financial institutions.

Ross is charged with ten (10) counts of Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree and Gonzales is charged with nineteen (19) counts of Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree. Both will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 12/19/2015.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
