Open Call for Artists: ART & SCIENCE, An East End Arts Gallery Show; Dates: April 26 – June 14, 2013
(Riverhead, NY) –– The East End Arts Gallery is pleased to announce an open call for artist participation in the upcoming juried, all media art show, Art & Science, at the East End Arts Gallery, opening with a reception on Friday, April 26 and running through June 14, 2013. The call is open to all artists to submit work that depicts the two very different concepts of art and science. The guest juror for this show will be artist and science teacher, Kryn Olson. This show is sponsored by Peconic Bay Medical Center and is in collaboration with the Long Island Science Museum. The East End Arts Gallery is located at 133 East Main Street in Riverhead, NY.
Gallery Director Jane Kirkwood encourages artists: “Art and science are as diverse as two things can be. One is more mechanical, the other more mystical – but in the twenty-first century, which is which? Try using both as your concept, or demonstrate one with the other.” Original works in all media may be submitted, including: painting, drawing, photography, mixed media, video, sculpture and poetry; up to three entries can be submitted per artist. Entries will be accepted on Thursday, April 18; Friday, April 19; and Saturday, April 20 from 10AM to 4PM at the East End Arts Gallery.
For all size and entry requirements and details, view the full prospectus: http://eastendarts.org/Temp2013/Art&ScienceProspectus.pdf.
The “Best in Show” winner of this show will be one of several artists who will participate in the East End Arts Gallery’s Winners’ Show in the Fall of 2014. First, Second, Third Place, and Honorable Mentions will also be awarded.
An Opening Reception will be held on Friday, April 26 from 5PM to 7PM, when guests will have an opportunity to meet the artists. This free event is open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
This show is one of seven art shows of 2013, under the umbrella theme for the year: “Celebrating Our Diversity”. East End Arts’ complete 2013 Gallery Schedule can be found at http://eastendarts.org/Temp2013/2013GALLERYSched.pdf.
