(Long Island, NY) Major Case Bureau detectives report the arrests of a father and son from East Meadow on Friday, June 26, 2015 at 2:10 pm in East Meadow.
According to detectives, several vehicles, while parked on the private property of a vacant retail business located at 2807 Hempstead Turnpike, were window marked with vehicle information and were being offered for sale. A subsequent investigation by detectives revealed that 5 of the 6 cars offered for sale, as well as other previous sales to unsuspecting buyers, had the vehicles odometer and titles indicating altered mileage totals. In one case the actual mileage discrepancy was in excess of 197,000 miles.

As a result of the investigation, Cory Vlado, 45, and Steve Vlado, 29, were placed under arrest at the scene without incident. Both defendants are charged with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree, two (2) counts of Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree and Defraud 1st Degree. They will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on Saturday, 06/27/2015.

Detectives are seeking additional persons who believe that they may have been victimized by the defendants with the purchase of a vehicle and are asking them to call the Major Case Bureau, Vehicle Theft Squad at (516) 573-5275.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
