(Long Island, NY) Eastern Long Island Hospital Board of Trustees Chairman, Thomas E. Murray, Jr., and ELIH Foundation Chairman, Scott V. Bennett, present James H. Rich, Jr. with a proclamation in appreciation of his many years of service and dedication to both the Hospital and the Hospital Foundation.
Jim served on the ELIH Foundation from January 2006 to December 2013 as a Director and has now been awarded the title of Emeritus Director. Jim also served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Hospital from 1995 to 1998 and Treasurer from 1998 to 2003.

“Jim has been a great resource and a loyal friend to Eastern Long Island Hospital,” notes Thomas E. Murray, Jr. “ELIH is so grateful for Jim’s numerous contributions through the years. Between his knowledge of the hospital’s history and his community involvement, Jim has been invaluable to the ELIH Foundation, and of course, to the Hospital at large,” adds Murray.
The ELIH Foundation was established in 2006 to focus on securing funds for capital campaigns to keep pace with advancements in medical technology. Since its inception, over $5,000,000 has been raised to rebuild ELIH from the inside out, including new Diagnostic Imaging Suites for MRI, CAT Scan and Mammography as well as enhancement and expansion projects to the main lobby, the medical-surgical and intensive care units and behavioral health.
The ELIH Foundation is currently focused on raising additional funds for Operation Renew, an initiative to rebuild and modernize the existing operating rooms at the hospital. Construction is slated to begin in January 2014.
