(Long Island, NY) The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of an Elmont man for Forgery that occurred on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 10:25 pm in Elmont.
According to Crimes Against Property Detectives, Fifth Precinct Police Officers on patrol observed the defendant Dale E. Braithwaite, 36, sitting in a 2010 Mercedes Benz parked on Dutch Broadway with its interior dome lights on and a strong odor of marihuana coming from the car.

An investigation by the officers revealed that the defendant was smoking and recovered a substance believed to be marijuana. The defendant Dale E. Braithwaite was placed into police custody without incident. Further investigation also revealed the defendant was in possession of eight fraudulent Chase bank checks and 4 credit cards not belonging to him.
Dale E. Braithwaite is charged with 8 count of Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, and various New York Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He will be arraigned on Friday, January 22, 2016 at First District Court in Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
