Newly-minted Senate Leader Can Do “People’s Business” by Allowing Up or Down Vote on Bills with More than 32 Sponsors
(Long Island, NY) New Senate Majority Leader John Flanagan (R-Long Island) has the opportunity to break from the contributor-driven style of leadership held by his predecessor, and begin to rebuild the public’s faith by allowing a simple up or down vote on a handful of health and safety bills sponsored by more Senators than votes needed for passage.
Environmental Advocates of New York and partner organizations will outline the bills sponsored by more than 32 members of the Senate, and call on Senator Flanagan to commit to a vote that allows these bills to pass or fail on their merits this legislative session.
