(Long Island, NY) The Art League of Long Island is proud of the impressive work being done by our ceramics students. Having them exhibit their work is important for several reasons—as an opportunity for self-evaluation, for developing an appreciation for professional modes of presentation and for the gratifying pleasure of seeing one’s accomplishment recognized and shared with friends, family, and the general public. For the Art League it affirms the quality and dedication of our instructors.

Over the years, the walls of the Art League’s Strolling Gallery have borne witness to these accomplishments with month-long exhibitions of work being done in our painting, drawing, printmaking and other classes of two-dimensional mediums. This ceramics exhibition takes place in the larger space of our bi-level, atrium style Jeanie Tengelsen Gallery. The exhibit is on view until February 2 and an artists’ reception takes place February 2 at 3:00pm.

The 90-plus students enrolled in the Art League’s extensive program were encouraged to submit work. Not all felt ready. On display is a combination of work by students, instructors and technical assistants in the department. The labels make no distinctions. The instructors are Jo-Ann Gartner, Gina Mars, Russell Pulick and Ruth Sachs. Their assistants are Toni Rosenbaum, Amy Tischler and Justin Troccoli. One wall of the upper gallery is given over to the students in Gina Mars’ classes for young people.
