Registration for ‘Team FCA’ is Officially Open to the Public
(Long Island, NY) Grab your swimsuit, bike and running shoes for an epic race in New York City! Family & Children’s Association is actively recruiting athletes with a heart to join “Team FCA” in this year’s Panasonic New York City Triathlon, taking place on July 24th in Manhattan (the event starts on 99th street and Hudson River).
For those who don’t know, the 2016 Panasonic NYC Triathlon is an Olympic Distance race consisting of a 1500m swim, a 40K bike and a 10K run. This year’s route will take participants into the waters of the Hudson River, along the streets of Manhattan’s West Side and through the beautiful scenery of Central Park.
The 2016 Panasonic NYC Triathlon is eagerly anticipated every year; in fact, last year’s event included hundreds of athletes and thousands of spectators who followed the athletes and provided moral support along the grueling route.
Dr. Jeffrey Reynolds, FCA’s President/CEO, believes that competing on the FCA team adds another level to the athletic experience. For this reason, he, too, is training for the upcoming event and will be one of many representing ‘Team FCA’.
“For over 130 years, FCA has been providing vital social services to the most vulnerable members of our community…infants, children, veterans, seniors, the homeless, and people living with a variety of challenges. These are the people without a voice who need to be championed by those who are more fortunate. The NYC Triathlon brings together the strongest, most dedicated athletes in New York…why not harness that strength to help our neighbors who cannot help themselves,” he added.
Slots are now open, but limited (we currently have three open slots, and one team available for reservation). To join Team FCA, please call (516) 746-0350. To learn more about the many programs and services offered by FCA, please visit our website at www.familyandchildrens.org.
