(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a single-car crash that killed a man and his son in East Farmingdale on Saturday, June 13.
Ravi Maharaj was driving a 1995 Nissan Maxima southbound on New Highway, approximately one mile south of Conklin Avenue when he apparently lost control of his car, struck a fence and numerous headstones inside St. Charles Cemetery at approximately 4 p.m. Maharaj, 44, of North Amityville, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

His son Lochan Maharaj, 11, was transported by East Farmingdale Rescue to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bethpage where he was pronounced dead.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information about this crash is asked to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
