(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police have arrested four men who burglarized an occupied residence in West Islip and injured two residents on Sunday, November 8.
Four men entered a home on Bay Shore Ave., struck two people with a bat and stole items from the residence before they fled at approximately 2:50 a.m. A resident of the home called 911 and a Third Precinct police officer responded to the home and received information on the suspects. Another Third Precinct police officer responded to the call and observed two men fitting the suspect’s description outside of a vehicle at the corner of Ocean Avenue and Muncey Road in West Islip. The officer approached the vehicle and found two other men inside. The officer took all four into custody.
The two victims were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Third Squad detectives have determined the house was a targeted location. The following were charged with Burglary 1st Degree:

- Thomas Hillier, 18, of West Islip.

The investigation is continuing.
All four will be held overnight at the Third Precinct and are scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on November 9.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
