21 Violations Cited, Eight Summonses Issued, Three Tanker Trucks and One Driver Placed Out of Service
(Long Island, NY) The Suffolk County Highway Patrol Motor Carrier Safety Section, in conjunction with New York State Police, NYS Department of Transportation, NYS Environmental Conservation Police, NYS Department of Taxation and Finance, and Suffolk County Consumer Affairs Bureau of Weights and Measures issued eight summonses and placed three tankers and one driver out of service at a fuel carrier safety checkpoint Wednesday, December 9, 2015 from 10 p.m. to Thursday December 10, 2015 at 3 a.m.

The inter-agency enforcement initiative was conducted to ensure compliance with commercial motor vehicle and hazardous material safety regulations and with NYS tax laws, and to address environmental safety issues associated with fuel tanker trucks. A total of 12 trucks were inspected during the five-hour checkpoint.
- The Motor Carrier Safety Section, New York State Police and NYS Department of Transportation issued six summonses for equipment violations and placed three fuel tanker trucks and one driver out of service for safety hazards.
- The New York State Environmental Conservation Police issued two summonses for violations of the NYS Environmental Conservation Law.
- The New York State Department of Taxation found one violation of NYS tax laws, but no citation was issued.
- Suffolk County Consumer Affairs Bureau of Weights and Measures found all trucks in compliance with registration requirements.
