(Long Island, NY) Just days before voters get to decide who will lead Nassau County into the future, the Fair Media Council will feature town hall forums with the Candidate, Thomas R. Suozzi, and current County Executive Ed Mangano, as part of FMC Connection Day presented by Bethpage Federal Credit Union.
The event — the largest local news conference in the country to bring the news media together with the community for a day of civic engagement, mutual understanding, relationship building and story pitching — includes 15 panel discussions with media and primary sources.
“Just the networking component of FMC Connection Day often results in getting people into the news, while the panel discussions create tomorrow’s headlines,” said FMC Executive Director Jaci Clement.
FMC Connection Day presented by Bethpage Federal Credit Union will include speakers from various major media outlets including: WABC-TV, WCBS-TV/TV55, WNBC-TV/Telemundo, FOX5, my9, WPIX, 1010WINS, WCBS NewsRadio, FiOS1 News, FOX News Channel, Long Island Business News, WALK, AOL’s Patch.com and many more. Topics discussed will range from ‘Extreme Weather As The New Norm: Is Wireless Communication the Answer for Emergency Communications?,’ which will be moderated by former Deputy Secretary, Public Safety for the State of New York, Michael Balboni, and includes WABC-TV President David J. Davis as a panelist. Other hot topics include ‘Today’s Political Races: Who’s Winning & Why,’ where FOX News Channel’s John LeBoutillier squares off against ABLI’s Desmond Ryan, Political strategist Michael Dawidziak and WCBS NewsRadio Anchor Steve Scott; ‘The Future of Transportation on Long Island,’ ‘Why the Court of Public Opinion Trumps the Court of Law,’ and ‘The Affordable Care Act & Its Local Impact.’
FMC Connection Day presented by Bethpage Federal Credit Union happens on Friday, Oct. 25 2013, from 8 a.m until 4 p.m at Briarcliffe College in Bethpage, N.Y.
