(Long Island, NY) Residents from Great Neck, Roslyn and as far as Long Beach joined The Gold Coast International Film Festival (GCIFF) in Roslyn to celebrate the first two weeks of a film retrospective featuring the work of Great Neck native, director/producer RJ Cutler. The screenings took place in Roslyn and started with audience favorite, THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE, which starred legendary Vogue Editor Anna Wintour.
The last two weeks of the retrospective moves to Port Washington, for screenings on the evenings of October 22nd and November 13th at the Port Washington Library. The first film, THE WAR ROOM, a political documentary featuring George Stephanopolous and James Carville, provided Cutler with an Oscar nomination, and the final screening highlights Cutler’s fictional directorial debut, IF I STAY starring Chloe Moretz.
During the week of the film festival (November 9-15) audiences will also be able to enjoy Cutler’s latest documentary, LISTEN TO ME MARLON which examines the life of icon Marlon Brando. The film was completely constructed using archival footage, as well secret audio tapes that Brando used to document his life. LISTEN TO ME MARLON has received wide critical acclaim and will be featured at the festival on Saturday, November 14that 3:30pm in Manhasset’s Bow Tie Theater on Plandome Road.
The GCIFF produces a year-round film series featuring an exciting slate of quality films and award-winning talent. This fall, the GCIFF will be celebrating its 5th Anniversary Festival November 9-15, and recently won first place in “The Best of the North Shore” competition as the “Best Attraction” within the region.
