(West Islip, NY) Theresa Jacobellis has been promoted to the position of Assistant Vice President of Development and Public Affairs for Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center. Ms. Jacobellis joined Good Samaritan in May 2012 as director of public and external affairs.

Prior to that she had served as director of public affairs for Huntington Hospital. In her new role, she will continue to advance all of Good Samaritan Hospital’s media and communication concepts and strategies. Her expanded role will include oversight and strategic direction of the medical center’s development and fundraising efforts. In addition, she will work with Catholic Health Services (CHS) leadership in promoting system initiatives.
Ms. Jacobellis has more than 25 years of related experience in public relations, marketing, social media, development and grant writing. She holds a bachelor’s degree in broadcasting and film and a master’s degree in health communications from Boston University.
She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and Public Relations Professionals of Long Island. In addition, Ms. Jacobellis is public relations chair of the Nassau Suffolk Hospital Council. She has presented lectures on grant writing and social media and has published several articles on electronic communication in health care marketing. She resides in Centerport with her husband, Steve Taranovich, and their three children.
Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center is a 537-bed (including 100 nursing home beds), voluntary, not-for-profit hospital located in West Islip.
