(West Islip, NY) Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center recently donated more than 60 pieces of medical equipment including ventilators, monitors, defibrillators and cribs to impoverished hospitals and clinics in developing countries around the world.
As a new member of IMEC Global Green, a medical surplus recovery program that enables US based hospitals and health care providers to make responsible use of their medical surplus, Good Samaritan’s equipment will find new homes in Respiratory Therapy, Dialysis and Recovery Rooms. In addition to helping transform impoverished hospitals and clinics, the program contributes to a healthier planet by repurposing surplus medical equipment and supplies that would otherwise be destined for landfills.
“This program dovetails with Good Samaritan’s mission of continuing Christ’s healing which as medical professionals we are entrusted with improving the health and well-being of those in need around the globe,” said Senior Vice President of Administration at Good Samaritan Joseph Loiacono. “This equipment will provide doctors and nurses with the tools they need to advance the standard of care.”
Since 1995, IMEC has reused materials to upgrade hundreds of facilities in over 90 developing countries. For more information on medical surplus recovery program, please call (631) 376-4444 or visit www.imecamerica.org.
