(West Islip, NY) Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center’s Fred Tucker was named July’s Samaritan of the Month for its satellites. Mr. Tucker has been a volunteer at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Sayville three days a week, 7.5 hour shifts for more than a decade. He understands each resident’s individual needs and is known for bringing smiles to many of the residents. In addition to being a volunteer he is a retired postal worker and ex-Marine.

He resides in Deer Park.
Since 1999, Good Samaritan Hospital has recognized exemplary employees that consistently go above and beyond their assigned duties and live by the hospital mission to promote excellence in care and commit to those in need. Nominations are submitted for review to a committee from co-workers, supervisors and patients. Samaritans are surprised in their department with a bouquet of flowers. A Samaritan of the Month presentation is held at the hospital with their co-workers and family.
