“Violence has no place in our communities, especially not near our schools,” said Presiding Officer Gregory. “This week we sent a resounding message to the Brentwood community: We are here for you and your children. Not only will we work aggressively to combat violence, but we must also invest in our at-risk youth before they are ever tempted to join a gang.”
“The safety of our communities — and in particular our young people — is of paramount importance to the Suffolk County Police Department,” said Sini. “We look forward to working with our partners to ensure that we are doing everything we can to further drive violent crime down in our communities, including launching new initiatives with our federal law enforcement partners and collaborating with our community partners.”
Superintendent McIntyre announced that random searches will be conducted with metal detectors at all Brentwood schools.
