April 4 at H. Frank Carey High School (7:00 – 9:00 pm)
(Long Island, NY) Senator Kemp Hannon and Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano encourage you to attend a FREE Narcan Training event on Monday, April 4th, at the H. Frank Carey High School (230 Poppy Avenue, Franklin Square), from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
“Naloxone, or Narcan, is a highly effective antidote for accidental drug overdose,” said Senator Hannon. “The Center for Disease Control and Prevention has reported that every 19 minutes, one person dies from an accidental overdose from prescription drug abuse, and it’s imperative that we do everything possible to prevent these tragedies from occurring.”
Abuse and death from the use of opioids such as Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, and Heroin is increasing at an alarming rate. At this training event, participants will be able to learn what they can do in case of an overdose and how to administer the life-saving, overdose-reversal agent Narcan.
Participants will be trained in the use and administration of Narcan, and will also receive a FREE Narcan kit.
You MUST RSVP for this event. Reservations can be made by emailing elaikin@nassaucountyny.gov(http://nassaucountyny.gov), or by calling Eden Laikin at 516-571-6105.
