(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police arrested a man that robbed a bank in Hauppauge on Tuesday, May 26.
Nicholas Arettines entered Bank of America, located at 190 Motor Parkway, approached a teller at approximately 3:55 p.m. and displayed a note demanding cash. The teller complied with the robber’s demands and gave him cash from the drawer. Arettines fled from the bank, possibly to a waiting vehicle.

Responding officers interviewed multiple witnesses and were able to determine that Arettines fled southbound to the vicinity of Brentwood State Park, where he was located and taken into custody.
Arettines, 31, of Brentwood, was charged with Robbery 3rd Degree and is being held overnight at the Fourth Precinct. He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on May 27.
The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
