(Long Island, NY) The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Hempstead man for Attempted Murder that occurred on Monday, October 05, 2015 at 12:30 a.m. in Hempstead.
According to detectives, on October 4, 2015 at 3:47 p.m. James Jacobs, 30, while driving on Saint Regis Place did fire five (5) shots at a vehicle with two victims inside, a male, 26 and a female, 49. No injuries were reported.

Third Squad Detectives with assistance from Hempstead Police Officers located Jacobs on President Street and placed him under arrest. The defendant was in possession of a loaded handgun.
Jacobs is charged with two counts of Murder 2nd degree (Attempt), Criminal Use of a Firearm 1st degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree. Jacobs will be arraigned on Monday, October 5, 2015 at First District Court in Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
