(Long Island, NY) First Squad detectives report the arrest of a Hempstead man for arson that occurred in Roosevelt on Thursday, 05/28/15 at 11:14 A.M.
According to detectives, Tyrone Kinard, 27, set a plastic bag containing clothing on fire on the front stoop of a residence on Gormley Ave. The fire then extended to the building causing damage to the front door, siding and soffit. The defendant had been involved in a verbal argument with the female victim, 25, who resides there, and took her debit card in addition to violating a Family Court Order of Protection.

No injuries were reported.
Kinard is being charged with Arson 4th Degree, Grand Larceny 4th Degree, Criminal Contempt 1st Degree and Criminal Contempt 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned on Friday, 05/29/15 in First District Court, Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
