(Middle Island, NY) Assemblyman Edward Hennessey was proud to be invited to honor Longwood Jr. High School eighth-grader Laraib Sarwar as the first-place middle school winner of the 6th annual Hispanic Heritage Month Essay Contest, sponsored by Cablevision and Olympusat.

This year the essay required students to name a Latino, past or present, with whom they would choose to spend a day and explain why in 500 words or less. Ms. Sarwar wrote about singer and song writer Selena, who was named the top Latin artist of the 90s. Ms. Sarwar, as the first-place essay winner, was presented with a laptop computer courtesy of Cablevision and Olympusat.
