(Port Jefferson Station, NY) Hess Energy Marketing Corporation recently presented a check for more than $4,500 to support Maryhaven’s Children’s Residential Program. The generous donation will be used to facilitate Skype communications between Maryhaven’s residential students and their families.
Each year, Hess sponsors a golf outing at which there is a 50/50 raffle. Proceeds from the raffle are matched by Hess and donated to organizations that assist children. This year’s 50/50 resulted in $2,255, which was matched by the Hess and donated to Maryhaven.

Hess Supports Maryhaven Center of Hope: (L-R) Tim Connors, Manager, NY Metro Sales, Chuck Vanek, Assistant Division Director, Residential Services, Robin Dwyer, Executive Division Director, Residential & Educational Services and Richard Locke, Senior Account Manager, NY Metro Region.
Maryhaven provides a multitude of services to children and adults with intellectual disabilities and/or behavioral health concerns. Since Maryhaven’s school population is largely non-verbal and on the autism spectrum, traditional phone calls are often ineffective in maintaining contact between children and their families. A task force is currently working on a proposal to add Skype stations, purchase tablets, and to secure the necessary Internet access to launch the program.
“Maryhaven extends its thanks and appreciation to the Hess Corporation for this wonderful donation,” said Maryhaven President and CEO Lewis Grossman. “You have truly made a difference in the lives of children with special needs.”
Founded by the Daughters of Wisdom in 1930, and a member of Catholic Health Services of Long Island, Maryhaven Center of Hope is a non-profit organization that provides a multitude of services to children and adults with intellectual disabilities and/or behavioral health concerns. Maryhaven serves more than 2100 children and adults throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties. Programs include: day habilitation, personal recovery oriented services (PROS), residential settings, senior housing and senior programs, service coordination, transportation services and vocational programs.
