(HUNTINGTON NY) The Huntington Summer Arts Festival is in full swing! Grammy Award Winners, Parent Choice Award Winners and local town favorites hit on the Chapin Rainbow Stage all week, performing your favorite music from television, movies, and Broadway! There is something for everybody to sing along to, so pack a blanket, a picnic, and enjoy summer evenings with us in Heckscher Park.
- Tuesday, July 9 – Hot Peas ‘N Butter Winners of the 2006, 2008 and he 2009, “Parent’s Choice Awards”, Hot Peas ‘N Butter incorporates traditional Latin music, Afro-Caribbean rhythms, jazz, folk, and rock into an interactive, invigorating performance that inspires care and creativity in kids and adults alike.
- Wednesday, July 10 – Huntington Community Band “Bond Is Back!”An evening of music that we’ve come to love – featuring music from TV, movies and Broadway. Join us as we celebrate 50 years of James Bond music in the movies in addition to Les Miserables, music of The Beatles, a little bit of this, and a lot of THAT!
- Thursday, July 11 – Isotope Stompers A seven piece Dixieland jazz band (and long-time Summer Arts Festival favorite!) that would sound right at home on Bourbon Street, New Orleans. Their repertoire consists of tunes such as “Tiger Rag”, “Muskrat Ramble” and “St. James Infirmary Blues”.
- Friday, July 12 – Caravan of Thieves Mesmerizing vocal harmonies and fantastic stories that entertain, dazzle and defy classification while welcoming the spectator to join the band throughout the performance in momentary fits of claps, snaps and sing-alongs. If Django Reinhardt, the cast of Stomp and the Beatles all had a party at Tim Burton’s house, Caravan of Thieves would be the band they hired.
- Saturday, July 13 – Paula Cole She broke boundaries as the first woman in history to solely produce and receive the best Producer Grammy nomination for her work, “This Fire.” From her top ten hits of the 1990’s to her more recent critically acclaimed albums, 7 time Grammy nominee Paula Cole continues to write, produce, record and perform heartfelt, meaningful, lasting music that defies categorization.
- Sunday, July 14 – Nassau Pops Symphony Orchestra Under the direction of Maestro Lou Panacciulli, the Nassau Pops Symphony Orchestra will perform your musical favorites from Broadway, television and the movies. Rely on the Nassau Pops to present a great program of popular and light classical music.
