(Long Island, NY) The Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce hosted more than 135 Chamber members, local residents and business owners at its Annual Networking Meeting at the Huntington Yacht Club on Tuesday, May 21.
The event was highlighted by the “State of the Chamber” address which included a recognition of outgoing Chamber Chairman Bob Bontempi, an overview of the Chamber’s progress over the past four years, a recap of premier events over the past year and an overview of future plans designed to add even more value for its members. Attendees were also introduced to the Chamber Executive Board as well as current Board Directors and new Directors. The entire Board was then sworn in by Huntington Town Clerk Jo-Ann Raia.

The “State of the Chamber” address was presented by incoming Chamber Chairman Larry Kushnick. The address focused on the Chamber’s vision to maintain economic strength, expand opportunities and continue to grow local business and industry within the community. Kushnick also announced a series of Chamber initiatives designed to offer more value for membership. Some of these initiatives included:
- New Chamber website and technological advances designed to assist membership in doing business within Huntington and among Chamber members
- Continuation of the Chamber’s core, exciting programs and a summary of the opportunities which they provide to members
- Overview of the integration of bold, new initiatives to enhance the mission of the Chamber which will support local community and business. One of these initiatives will include a Chamber Gala planned for 2014
- The introduction of new Chamber Committees which address new opportunities. New Committees will include a new Multi-Cultural Committee. a stronger Village Merchants Committee and newly formed committees which address geographic needs in such locations as Huntington Station and Melville
- Fostering the growth of the Chamber’s strategic partnerships and strengthening relationships
- Support of economic stability and economic development within Huntington Township through such initiatives as the reintroduced Chamber “Member to Member Discounts” and the Chamber’s new “Hot Deal Advertising” opportunities
- Linking existing business with the information and resources which will grow business and cultivate an environment and community in which members can prosper. One means of cultivation will be through “Referral Incentives.”
- Enhanced role of leadership, building upon previous accomplishments by the Chamber throughout the Huntington Township
“The Chamber has really accomplished so much within the past few years. These accomplishments provide a great platform to launch even more initiatives designed to support local companies and businesses within the Huntington Township so they can continue to stimulate business, drive innovation, and support our community,” Kushnick said. “By supporting local business on a grassroots level, we can build a strong foundation for our members to thrive and grow.”
Kushnick explained that programs like those the Chamber offers are designed to provide value for membership and enable the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce to remain consistent with its mission of supporting local business through advocacy, education, networking and business development for its members.
“Our chamber members are committed to stimulating the economy and building their businesses. Our new initiatives will ensure they receive even more value from their Chamber membership,” stated Larry Kushnick, Chamber Chairman.
