(Huntington, NY) Every year since 1963, the United States President has proclaimed National Small Business Week to recognize the contributions of small business to the economic well-being of America. As small business is integral to the local economy, the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce announced a series of initiatives during its recent “State of the Chamber” address in May designed to support local companies and businesses within the Huntington Township during the upcoming year.
“These initiatives will enable our local small business to stimulate commerce and industry, drive innovation, increase U.S. competitiveness and support our community,” explained Bob Bontempi, Huntington Chamber Co-Chairman. “Part of the Huntington Chamber’s mission is to support our local businesses, providing them with a strong foundation to thrive. We felt these new initiatives in addition to our current programs, will provide our members a solid platform to accomplish precisely that,” he explained.
The Chamber has been working on several initiatives which will be taking place to enhance the Chamber’s mission to support local business through advocacy, education, networking and business development for its members. They include:
- New Chamber website and technological advances designed to assist membership in doing business locally among Chamber members
- Continuation of the Chamber’s core, exciting programs
- The introduction of Chamber Committees to address current opportunities. These Committees will include the Multi-Cultural Committee, a stronger Village Merchants Committee and newly formed Huntington Station and Melville committees to address specific geographic needs.
- Fostering the growth of the Chamber’s strategic partnerships and strengthening relationships with other community organizations
- Support of economic stability and economic development within Huntington Township through such initiatives as the reintroduced Chamber “Member to Member Discounts” and the Chamber’s new “Hot Deal Advertising” opportunities
- Linking existing business with the information and resources
- Enhanced role of leadership, building upon previous accomplishments by the Chamber throughout the Huntington Township
In addition, the Chamber is continuing its Buy Local Campaign which will be strengthened to include new programs and it will continue support for local community programs which stimulate the economy such as Dine Huntington and the holiday parade.
