(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that critically injured a woman in Melville on Sunday, November 22.
Alanna McCarthy was driving a 2015 Toyota RAV4 northbound on Sweet Hollow Road, south of Chichester Road in Melville, at 1:20 a.m. when she lost control of the vehicle, struck a guard rail and overturned.

McCarthy, 18, of Huntington Station, was transported by Melville Fire Department ambulance to Nassau County Medical Center where she is listed in critical condition.
There were three passengers in the vehicle with McCarthy. All of the passengers were transported by another ambulance from the Melville Fire Department to Huntington Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this crash to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252. All calls will be kept confidential.
