(NEW YORK, NY) The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) plans to distribute 300 school bags filled with supplies to children at the NAACP annual Back to School/Stay in School Rally, this Saturday, August 24 at 11am. ICNA believes that having the tools necessary for a good education will truly help children in Suffolk County advance in many ways.
The event in partnership with NAACP, will include many prominent members of the county including County Executive Steve Bellone. The partnership with ICNA and NAACP signifies the importance education holds for each of them.
ICNA is expecting hundreds of families to turnout at the event, so their policy is to give out one bag per child present and a max of 3 school bags per household, while supplies last. Each bag will contain essential supplies including notebooks, pens, pencils, sharpeners, erasers, rulers, crayons and more.
This event is a part of a larger program distributing over 5000 schoolbags this month; being hosted by ICNA in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island, Long Island, as well as several states across the US.
