(Long Island, NY) The Second Precinct reports the arrest of an Islip Terrace woman for Driving While Intoxicated on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 5:45 am in Hicksville.
According to police, a 49 year old male victim was riding his bicycle east on Old Country Road at Raymond Street when he was struck from behind by a 2007 Toyota being operated by the defendant Katrina M. Yevoli, 30. The defendant Yevoli then left the scene of the accident without properly identifying herself and was later stopped by a 58 year old male witness at Old Country Road and South Oyster Bay Road.

Second Precinct Police responding to the accident scene observed the defendant trying to assist the victim after she returned to the scene. An investigation by police determined that the defendant was Driving While Intoxicated and she was placed into custody. The victim was transported to a local hospital by ambulance and treated for a broken clavical and a sprained ankle.
Katrina M. Yevoli is charged with 11.92 Driving While Intoxicated, 11.93 Operating a Motor Vehicle with more than .08 % alcohol, Leaving the Scene of an Auto Accident with Injury, Reckless Assault 3rd degree. She was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Saturday, January 16, 2016.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
