(MONTAUK, NY) Decorated US Marine Corps Veteran, John Behan, announced today that he is endorsing Jay Schneiderman for re-election to the Suffolk County Legislature.

Mr. Behan, who has served as NY State Assemblyman and Director of NY’s Division of Veterans Affairs said that Schneiderman had earned his support through hard work and effective leadership on issues that matter to the region. Mr. Behan pointed to the recent opening of the new East End clinic for Veterans, Legislator Schneiderman’s support of commercial fisherman and his efforts to reduce Lyme disease as examples of Mr. Schneiderman’s leadership.
“I’m proud to have Jay Schneiderman as my County Legislator because he has always fought for what’s important to East End residents and has been a strong advocate for veterans,” said Behan. Behan formally announced his endorsement of Schneiderman at his home in Montauk, NY
“John Behan’s commitment and service to our community, country and veterans is exemplary and I’m honored to receive his endorsement,” said Legislator Schneiderman.
Behan represented the East End in the New York Assembly from 1978 to 1995, and was instrumental in establishing the Assembly’s Veteran Affairs Committee. John Behan is a decorated Marine Corps veteran who was severely wounded in combat operations in Vietnam. Behan also served as Director of the New York State Division of Veterans Affairs from 1995-1998. Mr. Behan is also a former Chairman of the East Hampton Republican Party.
