(Long Island, NY) The Hon. Tammy S. Robbins, Judge of the Nassau County Court, Acting Justice of the New York State Supreme Court was recently honored by the Criminal Courts Bar Association of Nassau County. Judge Robbins was presented with the prestigious 2014 Norman F. Lent Memorial Award.
The award is presented each year to an outstanding jurist who through actions and deeds has consistently maintained the highest standards of the legal profession. Judge Robbins was also recognized for her extraordinary reputation for fairness, integrity and independence.
Judge Tammy S. Robbins presently presides in the County Court of Nassau County and oversees one of the busiest criminal parts in the County Court. Judge Robbins has also presided in the New York State Supreme Court, Nassau County Family Court and the Domestic Violence Court.
Prior to her election in 2004 to the Nassau County Court, Judge Robbins served in the Nassau County District Attorney’s office where she was an assistant district attorney for eleven years. She spent many of those years prosecuting serious criminal matters including narcotics and high-profile criminal cases. Judge Robbins was chosen by former Nassau County District Attorney Denis Dillon to be the first Gang Coordinator of the newly formed Gang Unit.
Judge Robbins has also served as Principal Law Secretary to County Court Judge Jeffrey S. Brown and County Court Judge David J. Ayres. Her duties included researching and analyzing legal issues raised in complex civil and criminal matters, and was responsible for preparing memorandums, drafting orders, opinions and verifying citations.

Lent Memorial Award, for her tireless efforts in promoting justice in this county through her work on the bench,” said Steven Raiser, Esq., President of the Criminal Courts Bar Association of Nassau County. “This was also an opportunity for our organization to celebrate our mission of uniting the Defense Bar in protecting the constitutional rights of the accused and promoting justice throughout this county.”
The Criminal Courts Bar Association of Nassau County was founded in 1953 and currently has more than 300 members. The association’s mission is to promote camaraderie and continuing education of the defense bar, recognizing the efforts of outstanding members of the legal community all while fostering a vigorous defense of the accused.
