(Long Island, NY) The Nassau County Police Department reports the arrest of a Kings Park man at 10:30pm on Sunday, January 31, 2016 in Hicksville.
According to Police, defendant James Petrone, 59, of Kings Park while operating a 2000 Ford Pick-up truck northbound on North Broadway did strike the rear of a marked police car that was parked with the emergency lights activated while the Officer was sitting in the driver’s seat. The Officer was engaged in a separate Vehicle and Traffic Law stop when the accident occurred in front of 41 North Broadway.

The Officer was able to request assistance and then transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. Subsequent to the investigation the defendant was arrested without incident and transported to Central Testing for arrest processing.
Defendant James Petrone is charged with Assault 3rd Degree, DWI sub 2 and sub 3 and a violation of failing to Move Over for an Emergency Vehicle. He was arraigned in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
