(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Legislator Jay Schneiderman confirmed today that sex offender trailers in Westhampton and Riverside have been permanently closed as promised by County Executive Steve Bellone.
County Executive Bellone said at a press conference Friday that the trailers would be shut down by Tuesday and he followed through on that promise. All occupants of the trailers have been transferred to other facilities under the recently passed Community Protection Act.
Legislator Schneiderman said the County is making arrangements to remove the trailers from the two sites as expeditiously as possible.
“I’d like to thank County Executive Bellone for being a man of his word by providing long-overdue relief for residents of these communities who have suffered with this burden for years,” said Legislator Schneiderman.
Representing the South Fork, Jay Schneiderman is the Suffolk County Legislator for the Second Legislative District. For more information, or to arrange an interview, please call (631) 852-8400.
