(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Legislator Bill Lindsay III announced today that he has received the endorsement of the Long Island Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, for his reelection on Tuesday, November 3rd.
The Long Island Federation of Labor represents over 250,000 members island-wide, which include a wide array of union workers from teachers to technicians, public employees to painters, bus drivers to bricklayers, retail, auto, janitorial, utility, healthcare, and construction workers. The Federation is the voice for the Long Island labor movement and Long Island’s working families.
“Earning the endorsement of the hard working men and women of the Long Island Federation of Labor is truly an honor, said Legis. Lindsay III. “I will always continue to fight for good paying jobs and benefits that build the middle class on Long Island and I’m proud that our workers are are confident in my record which focuses on fiscal responsibility, transparency and good government.
In his first term, Lindsay III, Chairman of the Economic Development Committee, helped put Suffolk County’s finances back on track by holding the line on taxes and passing two consecutive balanced budgets that did not exceed the tax cap. He led the fight to consolidate the Suffolk County Treasurer’s office and the Suffolk County Comptroller’s office, which reduced management, secured civil service jobs, made the office more efficient, and saved 1.29 million dollars. In addition, Lindsay III also co-sponsored a measure that adds language to an existing County law that requires contractors bidding on County contracts to actually graduate apprentices from a New York State certified apprenticeship program.

Legislator Bill Lindsay III represents the 8th legislative district which consists of Bayport, Blue Point, Bohemia, Holbrook, Holtsville, Oakdale, Sayville, West Sayville and parts of North Patchogue, Ronkonkoma, and Medford.
