(Long Island, NY) The Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (LICADD) is pleased to announce the election of Barbara Posillicoto its Board of Directors.Barbara is a Licensed Certified Social Worker providing counseling for individuals, teenagers, couples and families for the past 20 years.
A graduate of Long Island University and Adelphi University, Barbara works from a humanistic and relational approach with her clients that enable them to feel at ease. Inaddition to her private practice, Ms. Posillico has worked in probation as a crisis intervention social worker for the PINS Diversion Program. Her work withadolescents and their families continued when she worked for the HuntingtonSanctuary Project and Huntington High School. Ms. Posillico has extensive experience working with individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, school based issues, couples and the LGBT population. In 2008 Ms. Posillico and her mother, Kay Posillico (who is also a Licensed Certified Social Worker), opened up the Life Center Counseling & Health Services which helps to serve the Huntington Community with its mental health needs. The mission of the Life Center continues to provide a safe and caring environment where individuals, couples, families, and communities can take an active role in creating significant health changes in the emotional and physical aspects of their lives.
LICADD is Long Island’s premier non-profit agency providing life-saving alcohol and drug prevention and intervention services to at-risk children, individuals, and families across the region. With offices in Mineola, Holbrook and Riverhead, LICADD conducts screenings, brief interventions, referrals to treatment and relapse prevention services to individuals and families impacted by substance abuse. The agency also conducts evidence-based prevention programs, community outreach initiatives, a mentoring program for children of incarcerated parents, and public policy advocacy.
