(Long Island, NY) The Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (LICADD) is pleased to welcome Ashley Gunther, JD as Director of Philanthropy and Diana V. Nisito, MSW as Development & Communications Associate. Ms. Gunther and Ms. Nisito will be the collaborative forces behind LICADD’s Development & Public Relations Department. Ms. Gunther will lead the agency’s major gifts and grant initiatives and Ms. Nisito will focus on sustaining LICADD’s event fundraising and media relations.

Ms. Gunther most recently served as the Director of Government and Foundation Support at Housing Works, the largest community-based HIV/AIDS organization in the United States, where she was responsible for grant applications, research and funds dispersal, and securing institutional funding. Her previous position as Director of Special Projects for Harlem United Community AIDS Center focused on board relations, corporate compliance, legal matters, management of corporate records, and development functions.
Ms. Gunther holds a law degree from American University, a Master of Science in International Politics from University of Edinburgh, and a Bachelor of Arts in History and International Studies from University of Richmond. She has received formal non-profit management and development training, and has volunteered her time and expertise to Kids for Tomorrow and New York Cares. Ms. Gunther currently lives in New York City, and is honored to share her experience with LICADD.

Ms. Nisito, a resident of North Babylon, holds an MSW from Stony Brook University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Media Studies from Fordham University. She brings a wealth of public relations, social media, and event planning knowledge to her position at LICADD.
Her social work experience has focused on at-risk youth, particularly those involved with gangs and the criminal justice system. Ms. Nisito most recently studied in Stony Brook University’s Doctoral Program in Social Welfare, where she was also afforded the opportunity to serve as a research assistant with the Suffolk County Department of Probation’s Criminal Justice Coordinating Council.
Ms. Nisito’s holistic understanding of the social and behavioral challenges faced by young people predispose her to advocacy for LICADD’s programs and policy initiatives, and will undoubtedly enhance her work with the agency.
Ms. Gunther and Ms. Nisito bring a range of diverse experiences to the LICADD team. Both are passionately committed to non-profit work and have a deep personal investment in LICADD’s life-saving mission. “As LICADD continues its impressive track record of growth, we are thrilled to welcome two dedicated and talented professionals who can help us secure the funds necessary to meet the increasing demand for our services,” said LICADD Executive Director Jeffrey L.
