(Long Island, NY) The Long Island Junior Soccer League will join The Estee Lauder Company for a fundraising event to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The event will take place on Sunday, October 20th, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, at the Peter C. Collins Soccer Park, Old Country Road, Plainview, NY.
“In 2013, the BCA Campaign has continued its mission of being devoted to defeating breast cancer through education and medical research,” said Carlos Ospina of Estee Lauder, who is coordinating the event. “Our call-to-action on a global level has focused more on action while continuing to raise awareness about the importance that early detection saves lives”
Forty girls soccer teams will take the field throughout the day, wearing pink and taking part in breast cancer awareness activities. Estee Lauder will provide all players with wrist bands, awards (Estee Lauder gift baskets) for “most pink spirit”, information pamphlets for BCA, t-shirts, and games will be played with pink soccer balls.
“On a day like this, we get to have fun while helping to raise awareness,” Ospina said. “If one person leaves Soccer Park on Sunday thinking about early detection, or if they contributed to the BCA, then we’ve accomplished our goal”
