‘Paint Us Successful’ Conference Highlights Creative Programs Benefiting Kids

The conference, held November 6-8 at the Crayola Experience in Orlando, Florida, featured a special session with Abrakadoodle’s first Artist of Distinction, renowned wildlife painter Mort Solberg. The award-winning artist led a hands-on painting workshop much to the delight of all in attendance. Additional sessions focused upon best practices and new initiatives. Abrakadoodle art programs incorporate the four C’s of 21st Century Learning Skills to include Creativity, Critical Thinking, Collaboration and Communication. Conferees heard updates regarding school partnerships that recognize Abrakadoodle as able to meet 21st Century Learning Objectives.
In Oklahoma, OKAN (Oklahoma After-School Network) awarded Abrakadoodle the “High Quality Stamp” of distinction and “called upon the best providers (including Abrakadoodle) in Oklahoma City to provide STEAM enrichment to benefit students.” April Rose Jackson of Abrakadoodle-OKC is bringing standards-based, creativity-boosting art education classes to two under-performing elementary schools this fall and anticipates future expansion. Abrakadoodle’s Nancy Delasos is participating in the DC Promise Neighborhood Initiative in partnership with Educare and DCPNI to prepare more than 100 at-risk children for school. Steven Gray of Colorado is providing Title I programming to benefit K-6 students at Centennial Elementary School with quality art enrichment programming.
In Detroit, Dawna and Al Kelly, Abrakadoodle’s top performers for 2015 are impacting more than 10,000 children each week with highly regarded standards-based integrated art programming. Alice Wang, Master Licensor from China shared with conferees that Abrakadoodle-China reaches thousands of children via more than two-thousand My Gym franchise locations, as well as approximately 125 Abrakadoodle-China franchise art studio locations across the country. Building creative thinkers isn’t just a national concern – it is a global concern.
