(Long Island, NY) Unique works of art created by Long Island Craft Guild members in clay, paper, metal, glass, fiber, wood and mixed media go on display September 12 at the Mills Pond House Gallery of the Smithtown Township Arts Council. The public is invited to meet the artists at their reception on Saturday, September 19 from 1 – 3 PM.
Exhibition juror Frances Coleman, whose Locust Valley gallery has exhibited over 300 artists’ work during the past 25 years, has selected original and compelling work for this show, which runs until October 3. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Friday 10 AM – 4 PM; Saturday and Sunday, noon – 4 PM. For more information or directions, call 631-862-6575.

Mills Pond House Gallery is dedicated to showcasing the artistic development and achievements of our region and the nation. Its exhibitions provide diverse art experiences for individuals and reach local communities through classes, special events and community outreach programs that focus on active and collaborative learning through the medium of art. The gallery is operated by Smithtown Township Arts Council, a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization. With ten exhibition opportunities each year, artists from almost every state in the nation have exhibited over the past 38 years. Guest jurors contribute to the critical dimension of the selected works in the gallery, providing a venue for artists working in a wide variety of media and subject.
The Long Island Craft Guild is committed to the development of the crafts movement, and seeks to promote the exchange of information and experiences that will benefit both artists and the community. Membership in the Guild is open to all people interested in the creation and exhibition of fine craft. The LICG is an independent, non-profit educational organization. Since 1956, the Guild has provided educational and informational services, regular meetings and workshops, and a sense of community among crafts people.
